NBA 2K27 Editions and Early Access

NBA 2K27 sells three SKUs on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, and one SKU on Nintendo Switch 2. Visual Concepts / 2K priced Standard at $69.99, Deluxe at $99.99, and Ultra at $149.99. The worldwide launch date is September 4, 2026. Deluxe and Ultra Early Access began August 26, 2026 at 9:00 AM PT. Ultra is offered through September 6, 2026. There is no last-gen version.

Buy the edition for VC and access, not for a menu portrait. Cover athletes are Victor Wembanyama on Standard, Caitlin Clark on Deluxe, and Derrick Rose on Ultra. Details on the art sit with cover athletes. After you pay, go back to Getting Started and spend the dump with how to get VC open so a rebuild does not eat the SKU.

Pre-order 10,000 VC applies on top of the edition pile. 2K26 Ultra loyalty was 10 percent off through September 3, 2026. That window is closed. Ultra itself remains on the store through September 6, 2026.

Early Access times

Deluxe and Ultra Early Access began August 26, 2026 at 9:00 AM Pacific. That window is how people were already in the builder, Learn 2K, and The City during the last week of August. Standard owners are not late; they are on the worldwide launch date of September 4, 2026. Do not pay $30 extra on September 5 just to say you were in Early Access. The Ultra SKU itself remains offered through September 6, 2026 for the VC, Pro Pass, and Summer Pass, not for a time machine.

NBA 2K HQ has been live since August 21, 2026 on all editions. HQ does not replace Early Access. It lets you lock a MyPLAYER before console VC moves. Standard owners should still lock a card in HQ before they spend VC on launch day.

Switch 2, crossplay, and PC

Switch 2 is Standard Edition only. There is no Deluxe or Ultra on that platform, which means no six-figure VC dump and no Early Access SKU. Plan a slower attribute climb, live on 2KTV and MyCAREER, and be stricter about the first body.

Crossplay is PlayStation 5 plus Xbox Series only, and it covers co-op matches and online tournaments. Steam does not join that pool. Switch 2 does not join that pool. Friends on mixed platforms should read that twice before they buy two copies “to run Rec together.”

PC minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, Core i5-9400 or Ryzen 5 1400, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1060 5 GB / RX 5500 XT 4 GB / Arc A580, DirectX 12, 110 GB SSD, AVX2, feature level 12.0. Recommended: Windows 11, i5-10600 or Ryzen 5 3600X, 16 GB, RTX 2070 8 GB / RX 5700 8 GB / Arc A770. Install on SSD. Steam still uses the same edition ladder as PS5 and Xbox Series, including Deluxe and Ultra, with the crossplay limit above.

What the extra money actually buys

Deluxe’s extra $30 over Standard is 100,000 VC plus the Early Access week. That 100,000 is the bulk of a first build for most heights. Ultra’s extra $50 over Deluxe is 35,000 more VC, Season 1 Pro Pass (the ladder that can add up to 45,000 VC over the season), and Summer Pass seasons 7–9. If you will not play into summer, Ultra is a worse rate than Deluxe. If you want the Pro Pass anyway and you like the extra VC, Ultra is the cleaner checkout.

Gatorade and skill boosts that come with the higher SKUs show up in MyCAREER and in City stamina. They do not skip Fire & Concrete chapters and they do not green the dunk meter for you.

Who should pay what

  • Standard: you are on Switch 2, or you will wait for September 4, 2026, or you want to spend VC slowly on purpose.
  • Deluxe: you want one serious MyPLAYER and you wanted the Early Access week, or you still want 100,000 VC after worldwide launch.
  • Ultra: you want 135,000 VC, Season 1 Pro Pass included, and Summer Pass 7–9, and you will still be playing when those later seasons land. The 2K26 Ultra loyalty 10 percent off window closed September 3, 2026.

Do not buy Ultra for Derrick Rose in a menu. Do not buy Deluxe for Caitlin Clark in a menu. Do not buy a second platform copy because you misunderstood crossplay. Do not expect last-gen. Do not expect Switch 2 Deluxe.

Pay for Early Access only if you will actually play those nine days. NBA 2K27’s worldwide launch date is September 4, 2026; Deluxe and Ultra were the SKUs in the August 26 window, and Ultra stays on the store through September 6, 2026 for the VC and the passes. Standard is the Switch 2 reality and the patient checkout. Crossplay will not save a Steam-plus-PS5 Rec plan. Lock the edition, then spend the dump after a 99 overall preview, not after a cover-athlete trailer. The right SKU is the one whose VC you will put on a single card you can green.
