Early Access began August 26, 2026. The worldwide launch date is September 4, 2026. Ratings move during the 2026-27 NBA season. A 97 in August is not a promise in March. 2K will update overalls from real games, so this hub is a reading order, not a laminated card.

Do not use this section as a substitute for badge tokens, cap-breaker previews, or City court choice. Those fights belong on the build pages.

Official ratings at a glance

Three players share the top of the official board at 97 overall: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, and Nikola Jokic. Luka Doncic, Jalen Brunson, and Giannis Antetokounmpo sit at 96. Anthony Edwards is 95. Cade Cunningham is 94. A cluster of wings and guards — Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell, Karl-Anthony Towns — sit at 93. Tyrese Maxey is 92. LeBron James opens the 91 group at rank 16.

The 90 Club is the exclusive 90 overall and up list on 2K’s Top 100 page. It currently runs past the Top 16 through names such as Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Tyrese Haliburton, and Anthony Davis. Everyone at 89 and below is still a usable Play Now piece; they are just outside that club. Rookies sit lower on purpose. Flagg at 87 and Harper at 85 are strong debuts, not finished superstars.

Wembanyama’s 99 block is the interior headline. It does not mean your Rec center should copy his three-point attempts. Steal the rim-protection idea, then go back to height, wingspan, and strength on your own MyPLAYER.

Cover athletes versus roster value

Victor Wembanyama fronts Standard. Caitlin Clark fronts Deluxe. Derrick Rose fronts Ultra. Ultra is a limited digital SKU through September 6, 2026. Cover art is marketing and edition content, not a ratings ranking. Clark’s Deluxe cover does not place her on the NBA Top 16 table. Rose’s Ultra cover does not make him a 97. Wembanyama is the rare overlap: Standard cover and a 97 overall with a 99 block.

If you are buying an edition because of a cover, read the SKU notes on the cover-athletes page first. If you are building a MyPLAYER because a cover trailer looked fast, that is a finishing and Physicals question, not a ratings question.

How to turn a rating into a build idea

1. Read the official overall and the one attribute that is actually famous (Wemby block, SGA creation, Jokic passing).
2. Translate that into a role: on-ball creator, interior stopper, paint passer, set shooter.
3. Open best builds and pick the archetype that matches the role, not the NBA height.
4. Ignore any instinct to copy a 6’6 NBA guard into a 6’8 Park lock “because the rating is 96.”

Play Now and MyTEAM care about the number. The City cares whether your body can contest, board, and green. Keep those two brains separate and this hub stays useful after the first weekly ratings drop.

Roster pages go stale the moment 2K publishes a new Top 100. Bookmark player ratings for the table, cover athletes for the box art, and only then open a builder tab — an NBA 97 is a scouting report, not a Park prescription.
