NBA 2K27 Patch Notes
v1.2 on August 28. v1.3 gameplay on August 31. Worldwide launch September 4.
Visual Concepts shipped two numbered NBA 2K27 title updates during Early Access, then took the game to worldwide launch on September 4, 2026. Early Access began August 26, 2026. The worldwide launch date is September 4, 2026. v1.2 landed August 28, 2026 as a stability pass with no gameplay changes. v1.3 landed August 31, 2026 with the first Takeover nerf, squads matchmaking repair, Crew XP and REP retunes, and a list of City, REC, story, and Auction House hangs. A larger patch is planned before Season 2. This page is the readable version of those notes, plus what they mean for shooting builds.
Official notes listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) for both updates. Nintendo Switch 2 is a Standard-only SKU and may lag behind. Crossplay is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series only. If you play Switch 2, wait until that client shows the new version before you change a jump shot or a Takeover loadout.
v1.2 — August 28, 2026 (no gameplay tuning)
v1.2 is easy to misread because it arrived three days into Early Access and players expected a shot contest pass. Visual Concepts said no gameplay changes while they monitored games across modes and skill levels. If your timing felt different on August 28, that was server load, your own rhythm, or a settings reset, not a hidden shooting retune.
The official note still shipped two menu fixes. MyTEAM restored minimum and maximum buyout search in the Auction House. PC players can remap core actions when editing Key Bindings. Those are quality-of-life, not badge swings. Treat v1.2 as a required install, not a reason to rebuild. Finish the download before you queue REC or Crew HQ. A mixed-version lobby is how squads and City stats desync, which is exactly what v1.3 then had to clean up.
v1.3 — August 31, 2026 (first real tuning)
v1.3 is the Early Access patch that changes how you play. Developer note from Visual Concepts: they are hitting the issues that hurt the most, and the pre-Season 2 patch will be much broader. Until that larger drop, this is the live ruleset.
Squads matchmaking
Squads now stay intact when you back out during matchmaking. Before 1.3, backing out could split the party and send people into different lobbies. If you still see a split after 1.3, have every member fully patch, then reform the squad from the menu rather than from a leftover invite.
Shot Artist and Calibrated Takeover nerf
This is the only on-court nerf in 1.3. Shot Artist and Calibrated Takeover abilities are less effective. No other badges, contests, or stamina systems were listed. If your shooting build leaned on those two Takeovers for easier makes or a wider green window, expect a smaller boost while they are active. Everyone else should see a slightly fairer gap when those abilities pop.
Rhythm shooting still needs green timing. The dunk meter is still on all dunks. Right-stick steal is still gone; cutoff is the steal tool. None of that changed in 1.3. What changed is the extra help Shot Artist and Calibrated were giving on top of your base shot. Recast the plan on how to shoot and check whether those Takeovers still deserve a slot versus raw badge work on badges. NBA 2K27 has 53 badges, 19 of them new, 20 starting slots across Shooting, Finishing, Playmaking, Defense, Rebounding, and Physicals. Legend badges still come from max+1 / max+2, not from creation. Do not spend a Cap Breaker to prop up a Takeover 1.3 just weakened.
Crew XP and REP rates
Both Crew XP and REP earn rates were tuned from community feedback. 2K also adjusted the REP required for each tier. Some players logged in after 1.3 and found a higher REP tier because their existing REP now cleared a new threshold. Play a complete game after the update so any REP rewards tied to that new tier can show on the account. If you stop in the City menu without finishing a game, the grant can sit in limbo.
Crew HQ is the home for Crew competition. If your crew jumped two levels overnight, that is the threshold change, not a hidden 2x event. 2XREP weekends are a separate Season 1 event on the Season 1 ladder.
Fire & Concrete co-op blocker
A disconnect during a Fire & Concrete co-op game could brick story advancement. v1.3 fixes that blocker. Existing saves can continue. If you were stuck on a story beat after a drop, patch to 1.3, load the save, and resume. You should not need a new MyPLAYER.
City stats, REC hang, Auction House hang
A rare case where stats or progression did not apply after certain City games is resolved. A hang that could hit during REC games is fixed. A hang in the Auction House when a Player Card had multiple Takeovers on the shoe is fixed. If you still crash in REC, report the clip with your platform and version; 1.3 does not claim to have killed every freeze, only this hang.
PC mod tool
Steam users get a large performance increase in the PC mod tool plus general stability. That does not change console clients. It does mean PC creators should retest mods after 1.3 rather than assuming 1.2 timings still hold.
What 1.3 did not touch
No listed change to the 20 starting badge slots, badge tokens, Rebirth tiers (25 / 50 / 75 / 100 percent), or Cap Breaker rules. Cap breakers still return with the builder preview. Dunk meter, cutoff steals, and green-only rhythm shooting remain as designed. Do not rebuild a whole archetype because of 1.3 unless Shot Artist or Calibrated was the entire identity of the shot.
Switch 2 and the wait for Season 2
If you are on Nintendo Switch 2, confirm the client version before you copy a PlayStation timing window. Switch 2 may lag behind the August 31 PC and console drop. Worldwide launch is September 4, 2026. Steam announcements still list v1.2 and v1.3 as the numbered notes; if your client shows a later build, treat it as a launch-week stability drop until 2K publishes the full text. Keep this page for binary changes and use Season 1 for ladder and event changes. They are not the same update.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common NBA 2K27 questions.
Did patch 1.2 change gameplay?
No shooting or badge tuning. v1.2 on August 28, 2026 restored Auction House min/max buyout search and PC key remaps. Visual Concepts said no gameplay changes while they monitored Early Access.
