NBA 2K27 System Requirements and Platforms

NBA 2K27 is a current-gen basketball sim. If your PC cannot do AVX2 and DirectX feature level 12.0, the Steam page is not being dramatic — the client will not run. Early Access began August 26, 2026. The worldwide launch date is September 4, 2026. This page is the hardware and platform map, not a graphics-settings diary.

Buy the right SKU first with editions. Then confirm the box you already own can hold 110 GB on an SSD. Last-gen PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and original Switch are not in the lineup. Crossplay is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series only.

Official PC minimum

2K’s published minimum (Windows 10 64-bit, latest update):

• RAM: 8 GB
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 5 GB, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 4 GB, or Intel Arc A580
• DirectX: 12, feature level 12.0
• Storage: 110 GB available, SSD required
• CPU instruction set: AVX2
• Network: broadband

A dual-analog gamepad is recommended. First install needs a one-time internet connection for Steam authentication. DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable 2019 install with the game.

If the CPU lacks AVX2, you are done. No launch option will invent those instructions. If the GPU cannot do DX12 feature level 12.0, same story. 2K ships a PC compatibility checker on the support site — use it before you argue with a refund window.

Recommended is the line where The City’s night lighting and Rec crowds stay honest. Minimum is the line where the client starts. If you play Rec with a 1060 5 GB, expect to turn crowds and some City effects down. That is not a secret graphics pack. That is a 2016-era GPU doing 2026 work.

SSD, install size, and patches

110 GB is the published available-space number, not a suggestion. HDD installs are not supported. Patches 1.2 and 1.3 already shipped on PC: 1.2 restored Auction House buyout search and PC key remapping for core actions; 1.3 improved the PC mod tool with a large performance bump plus the gameplay and hang fixes. NVIDIA launched DLSS 5 (3D-Guided Neural Rendering) in NBA 2K27 on September 3, 2026 at 9:00 PM PT. It is optional, RTX 50 Series only (desktops, laptops) plus GeForce NOW Ultimate streaming from RTX 5080 cloud rigs. Install the Game Ready Driver dated that night, then Video Settings and turn on DLSS Neural Rendering. Toggle it in-game or in replays with F9. It does not make a GTX 1060 legal. It does not replace AVX2 or the 110 GB SSD.

Consoles and Switch 2

• PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultra. Crossplay between these two for co-op and online tournaments, with an NBA 2K account, internet, and the paid console online subscription.
• Nintendo Switch 2: Standard Edition only. No Deluxe, no Ultra, no Early Access window like the other SKUs. Patch timing can lag. Do not assume 1.3 is on Switch 2 the hour it hits Steam.
• No PS4, Xbox One, or original Switch.

If your friends are on Steam and you are on PS5, you are not in the same Rec pool. Plan The City groups around that. Editions math is on editions.

What to do before you click Buy

1. Confirm AVX2 and DX12 feature level 12.0.
2. Confirm 110 GB free on an SSD, not a leftover 5400-RPM drive.
3. Decide Standard versus Deluxe versus Ultra. Switch 2 owners only get Standard.
4. If you need Early Access, that window began August 26, 2026 for Deluxe and Ultra. Standard waits for the worldwide date.
5. Pad is recommended on PC. Keyboard bindings improved in 1.2, but Rec still plays like a controller game.
